Today is that wonderful day. Jake is finally coming home. It has been 336 days since this deployment started and today I get to go pick him up. I am so thrilled to have my husband back under our roof.
In my head I planned a great welcoming celebrations when he got home, but sometimes reality wins over. I'm sick, Helen's sick, and Jake is coming home sick. He has some out-processing to do, so I am headed to pack our things and then Helen and I are leaving town. We'll see y'all when we get home in a few days - with a much needed husband/daddy in tow.
The other night Helen and I had some Mommy/daughter time. First Helen got her bangs cut and then a nice bath. Then, we painted our toenails and Helen's fingernails. I had intention of painting my fingernails after Helen went to bed, but it hasn't happened yet. But I did get a manicure (just no polish). After painting our nails, Helen enjoyed a sugar cookie flavored yogurt. Then we had to change pajamas and wash the blanket. All in all it was a fun night.
Other good things this past 2 weeks: We are down to 1 week on the husband countdown. Wahoo! I got two packages from Jake. My apartment wasn't flooded from my neighbor's washing machine when I came home from Rexburg.
I am on a quest to develop myspaghetti sauce. I need recipes to try and then pull from as I develop my sauce. So far I have 5 recipes to try. Anyone want to contribute their fabulous marinara or bolognese sauce recipe?
My other quest is to find a good bottled spaghetti sauce as bottled sauce is just sometimes a lifesaver for a quick dinner. A couple of months ago I bought one of every kind that was appealing in many brands to try. I've made it through some - it takes awhile when it is just Helen and I that have to go through a whole jar.
Come March, Jake better be ready to eat spaghetti once a week until I figure out this quest.
